This response to MacArthur is sad to say the least.

This guy is the epitome of what is terribly wrong with the Emergent Church: he's trying to make an apologetic that truth cannot be known. Along with that, he accuses MacArthur in a round-about way of being arrogant...the standard mode of attack of the post-modern mindset. Rather than actually deal with the issue at hand using Scriptural argument, you attack the individual as being arrogant...and anyone who has any certainty about anything is by definition "arrogant" and "wrong."

I wrote a fairly lengthy post using John MacArthur's book, The Truth War, as a jumping off point. It covers the post-modern mind as it relates to the education of your children. You can find it HERE.

I just found your blog through a link at Slice of Laodicea. Thank you for holding up the banner of truth!

I got though about 2 minutes of the response to John Macarthur before turning it off because it was all utter nonsense.

I am 28, never made it beyond highschool. I am not some intellectual.
Really God's word is not that difficult. And if you truly know Him, than you can understand Him.

The ego has landed; how nice of this young fellow to come down from the heights of academia to speak to the great unwashed masses. He is so educated that he can’t understand the Bible (if I were him I would ask for my money back from whatever institute he studied at). The countrified rubes and hillbillies that can understand the scriptures do so with the help of the Holy Spirit. Obviously he missed class the day they taught about the Holy Spirit. What an arrogant young man, he needs our prayers.

Having just viewed each of the videos, I can empathise with both MacArthur and Magee in areas. Both evidently prize God's Word, if holding differing perspectives on aspects of it. Both perhaps exaggerate the dangers or faults of one-another's perspectives, and arguably, it is such exagerration that creates most problems (and associated stereotypes)in the emerging church debate. I (who would categorise myself as somewhere in between, theologically) have met many emergents, as conservatives, who are not (as another conservative response commented) 'the new fires of Molech' but are in earnest persuit of a life in submission to Christ.
What apalls me is seeing responses such as these preceding mine 'the ego has landed...what an arrogant young man, he needs our prayer.' This strikes me as an incredibly harsh judgement based on 10 minutes of video, made worse by an injection of recovery-piety 'he needs our prayers.' I'm all for debate in persuit of God's Truth, but this is just offensive.

When I saw the video response to MacArthur on the emerging church and listened to the first part of it, I quickly removed the video. Perhaps it was too rash and I should have just left it up. Glad to see you noticed it before I removed it and the discussion it has brought about.

Here is a some advice. Try NOT using Ad Hominem when you respond. All you did was attack John MacArthur, and did not give any biblical evidence to refute a single word he said. Attacking someone's character does NOT invalidate their statement. Go study YOUR bible and stop making asinine statements.
